I am going to analysis this video to see if there are any parts of it which are effective and that i might consider for my music video. I will look at 5 main aspects; these are camera angles, camera movement, sound, mise-en-scene and lighting. After analysing the video, it will hopefully give me some more understanding of music videos and what to include to make it effective and stand out.

Camera angles: At the start of the music video, medium close ups are used to show the audience that it is Cheryl Cole and it also shows part of her outfit. When the audience sees she is wearing casual clothing, it instantly suggests that she will be dancing. The song starts slow, so the use of close ups is effective, it shows the audience the emotion that Cheryl is trying to portray and make the audience feel aswell. Extreme close ups are used throughout the video, this is to show her emotion, her facial expressions and makes the audience feel closer to her and understand how she is feeling. Long shots are also used in this music video alot, these are used so that the audience can she her clothing, which suggests how she feels, they are also used to show her actions i.e. dancing or poses throughout the clip. Towards the end; birds eye view shots are used, this is to show the audience the dancers movements and how many of them there are.

Camera Movement: Camera movement is vital in music video's. It is important to make sure that the cuts and movement of the camera fit in with the song. If this isnt done then the music video isnt as enjoyable and not as many people will want to watch it. Sharp cuts are used in Cheryl Coles video, this is so that it ties in with her dancing, as the dancing is precise, quick and sharp. It is also used to fit in with the lyrics of the song. Quick cuts are used to portray the pace of the song, fast cuts means the song is fast paced. In this video, quick cuts are used to be in time with the song.

Lighting: The lighting is extremely basic in this video. The creator used lighter lighting while she was dancing, this was so that the dancers stood out from the background and to fit in with the theme of the song, love. However, darker lighting is used in some parts of the video, this is so that certain colours e.g. red, stand out. This was done because the theme of the song is love, therefore when the audience sees that red is the main eye catching colour, they instantly know the theme of the song.

Mise-en-scene: Mise-en-scene includes many things. But the main parts to look for when analysing a music video are the artists clothes, any props and background. When Cheryl is dancing with her backing dancers, she wears opposite colours to them. This is so that she stands out and the audience knows who the artist is, if they dont already. When she is singing, there is sometimes graffiti and words written around her, this could suggest that the song is r'n'b, it could also be sending messages out to the audience. For instance, in the video there are messages or quotes written on the screen, "fight for this love". Not only is this the name of the song, but it could be telling the audience to fight for what they want in life. Also, it could be reminding the audience of the name of the song so that it sticks in their minds. Red is a common colour all the way through the video, this is because it suggests love, but it could also mean danger. Both of these tie in with words from the song title "fight" and "love". Plain backgrounds are used constantly in the video, this is simply to make the artist stand out and be the focal point of the screen.

Sound: The sound in the video is just her song, with no background noise. The music fits with the camera cuts and they also fit with her dancing and movements. This is done so that the video is pleasing and makes it more successful because everything fits together.
