After completing my research, i decided that my final song was going to be red - Daniel Merriweather. This is because it is a catchy and meaningful song, plus, alot of people can easily relate to it. The song is a recent hit, so many people will be talking about it. This will be good for my project as it can give me help and advice on what to do and can also help me when thinking of what to add to the video to make it more effective. I will be making the video so that it clearly links with the lyrics and meaning behind the song. I have already analysed the video, lyrics and digipack for the artist and song, this will give me major insight when starting to create the video, cover and promotional work. I have created a basic storyboard showing what i thought should happen in the video, this will be uploaded later on in the planning process. I feel that my opinion of the song isnt enough so i will be asking my friends and family to analyse the video and lyrics to see what they feel should be included in the video, this will also be uploaded later on.
The song is a slow ballad, so the theme across the video will have to be sad and slightly depressing. When thinking about song choices, this was one of the reasons why i didnt want to choose this particular song, but after considering my shortlist, i decided that this was the song i enjoyed listening to the most and therefore would enable me to put my own mark on the video and make it my own. The song name red will highly influence the colour scheme for the video, but in a simplistic way. I thought that having the screen red at all times would be too amateur and not very professional. I then thought about having the video black and white, to tie into the theme of depression, then making certain aspects of the video red to emphasis the emotion and theme throughout the song. This will also be shown in my storyboards and animatics.
When thinking about camera angles, i decided that the main one would have to be close ups, this is because the song is extremely emotional and these shots are typically used to show the actor/actresses emotion. Other camera angles that i might consider will be; medium close ups, long shots and birds eye view. However, other types of shots will be included, but these are the main ones i am thinking of at this moment in time.
